Problem
Thunderbird for Linux tells me to update to a new version. But the Update does not work. What should i do?
Solution
Our default setting is to disable the update feature, because we manage the updates through the Debian software repository and because you can't write to the necessary directories. In some cases (especially if you are using Thunderbird since a long time) it could be, that you have this update feature activated. This overwrites the default setting and therefore you are requested to update.
Don't do this! Just check your Settings and disable this feature:
Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Update
Make sure that beneath Automatically check for updates to: the option Thunderbird IS NOT set.
Click on close to save the settings.
