'Baramundi' Software Installation

As a standard user, you cannot install software by yourself. The Windows workstations we deliver are more or less tailored to your position and working needs. Our main environment for setting up Windows PCs is a software solution called 'Baramundi'. Baramundi owns a big repository of common software used in daily business. In case you need a software which is not installed on your machine, write to support@ee.ethz.ch. We will then look in the Baramundi repository for the software. If it is available, we will install it remotely on your machine.

Software, that is not provided by 'Baramundi'

Sometimes the software you want to have installed is not in the Baramudi repository. If this happens, there are two possibilities:

  1. Get the software from the IT-SHOP (https://idesnx.ethz.ch/). <br> In this case, consider the following: Is a license required? If yes, has your institute already bought some licenses? To get answers to this questions, ask your supervisor or contact the BIWI secretaries office.

  2. Download the software from the Internet

In both cases you have to place the software in 'C:\apps', this is the only path on your machine the install process can be executed. After that contact us via support@ee.ethz.ch.

Software Re-Packaging Server

If your institute has a service agreement with ISG.EE, you can order software to be re-packaged. Afterwards, the software can be deployed to the workstations in your institute.

Default processing time is 4 weeks. You can help by providing the following information:

  • Is the software available on IT-SHOP?
  • Is a license required? If yes, has your institute already bought some licenses?
