[DEUTSCH] Mein D-ITET Account läuft ab

Du hast eine E-Mail erhalten mit dem Hinweis, dass dein D-ITET Account in X Tagen abläuft? Hier findest du alle Fakten dazu und was du allenfalls unternehmen kannst.

Auswirkung

Wenn du regelmässig an der ETH bist (z.B. als Mitarbeiter/in, Student/in, Dozent/in etc.), wird dir ein ETH Account im Identity und Access Management (IAM) erstellt. Mit diesem Account erhältst du Zugriff auf unzählige Services, welche die ETH anbietet. Obschon die angebotenen Services sehr umfassend sind, gibt es am D-ITET sowohl Services die nur am D-ITET verfügbar sind, als auch Services die sozusagen doppelt vorhanden (z.B. E-Mail Infrastruktur), aber anders (z.B. weniger restriktiv) konfiguriert sind.

Diese D-ITET Services sind nur den Personen des D-ITET vorbehalten. Um diese Trennung zwischen ETH und D-ITET Personen eindeutig umsetzen zu können, werden am D-ITET ebenfalls Konten erzeugt, die genau gleich wie dein ETH IAM Account heissen. Weiterhin werden am D-ITET Projektkonten für unterschiedliche Zwecke eingesetzt (z.B. Projektshares, Webseiten etc.). Solltest du der Besitzer eines Projektkontos sein, werden alle Projektkonto bezogenen Mails ebenfalls an dich gesandt.

Mit besagter E-Mail die du erhalten hast, wird dir nun mitgeteilt, dass dein D-ITET Konto oder Projektkonto bald abläuft und gelöscht wird. Das hat folgende Auswirkungen:

• Alle IAM Services deines ETH Kontos (z.B. eine allfällige @student.ethz.ch Mailadresse) bleiben unangetastet, lediglich die D-ITET Services sind davon betroffen!

• Zugriffe auf Projektshares von Instituten werden entfernt.
• Login auf D-ITET Maschinen (z.B. die Rechner in den D-ITET Computerräumen) ist nicht mehr möglich.
• Dein D-ITET Homeverzeichnis wird gelöscht.
• Mailadressen werden gelöscht, die vom D-ITET Mailserver zur verfügung gestellt werden. Mailadressen auf dem Exchange Server sind davon nicht betroffen.

Gegenmassnahmen

Um die Löschung des Kontos zu verhindern sollte man folgende Punkte klären, bevor man uns via support@ee.ethz.ch kontaktiert:

• Institute die staff und guest Konten zur verfügung stellen, müssen eine Verlängerung genehmigen. Daher sollte man mit dem technischen Kontakt des jeweiligen Institutes Verbdinung aufnehmen. Nur dieser kann entscheiden ob das Konto verlängert wird und bei uns eine Verlängerung beantragen.

• Studentenkonten werden in der Regel automatisch verlängert. Diese Verlängerung sollte spätestens 2-3 Tage vor Ablauf erfolgen. Eine Verlängerungsanfrage macht also nur 1-2 Tage vor der Kontolöschung Sinn.
• D-MAVT und D-MATH Studenten erhalten je nach Semester und Studiengang automatisch ein Konto. Dies, weil vielfach Vorlesungen an unserem Departement stattfinden und der Login in den Studentenräumen nur mit dem D-ITET Account erfolgen kann. Die Löschung dieser D-ITET Studentenkonten hat keinen Einfluss auf den regulären ETH Studentenaccount und es gab bisher noch nie Gründe dafür, diese Konten verlängern zu müssen.

• Doktoranden haben KEINEN Anspruch auf einen Studentenaccount. Dieser wird in jedem Fall gelöscht. Stattdessen kann aber das Institut an welchem Doktoranden Ihre Arbeit schreiben, einen Account zur Verfügung stellen. Ansprechperson ist hier jedoch der technische Kontakt des jeweiligen Institutes. Er wird dann ein entsprechendes Konto bei uns bestellen.

Impact

If you are a regularly at ETH (e.g. as an employee, student, lecturer, etc.), an ETH account in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) will be created for you. With this account you get access to countless services that ETH offers. Although there are a lot of services ETH offers, there are services that are only available at D-ITET, as well as services that are, duplicated (e.g. email infrastructure), but configured differently (e.g. less restrictively).

These D-ITET services are reserved for D-ITET personnel only. In order to be able to clearly implement this separation between ETH and D-ITET people, accounts are also created at D-ITET that are named exactly as your ETH IAM account. Furthermore, project accounts are used at D-ITET for different purposes (e.g. project shares, websites etc.). If you are the owner of a project account, all project account related emails will also be sent to you.

With the e-mail you received, you will now be informed that your D-ITET account or project account will expire soon.

• All IAM services of your ETH account (e.g. a possible @student.ethz.ch email address) remain untouched, only the D-ITET services are affected!

• Access to project shares from institutes are removed.
• Login to D-ITET machines (e.g. the computers in the D-ITET computer rooms) is no longer possible.
• Your D-ITET home directory will be removed.
• Mail addresses provided by the D-ITET mail server are deleted. Mail addresses on the Exchange Server are not affected.

Countermeasures

In order to prevent the deletion of the account, you should clarify the following points before contacting us via support@ee.ethz.ch:

• Institutes that provide staff and guest accounts must approve an extension. You should therefore contact the technical contact of the respective institute first. Only this person can decide whether the account will be extended and request an extension from us.

• Student accounts are usually automatically renewed. This extension should take place at least 2-3 days before the expiry. An extension request only makes sense 1-2 days before the account is deleted.
• D-MAVT and D-MATH students automatically receive an account depending on the semester and course. This is because many lectures take place at our department and the login in the student rooms can only be done with the D-ITET account. Deleting these D-ITET student accounts has no effect on the regular ETH student account and there have never been any reasons to renew these accounts.

• Doctoral students are NOT entitled to a student account. The student account will be deleted in any case. Instead, the institute to which doctoral students write their thesis can provide an account. However, the contact person is the technical contact of the respective institute. He will then order an appropriate account from us.
