Configuration of the Pine/Alpine command line email client

  1. Start Pine/Alpine in your shell.
  2. Press s to enter Setup.
  3. Press c to enter the configuration mode.
  4. move to "Inbox Path" using the cursor keys of your keyboard. Press the enter key.
  5. Type (without ") "imap.ee.ethz.ch/user=$yourUsername/ssl". Press the enter key.
  6. (Al)Pine now asks for the name of the inbox. Type (without ") "Inbox". Finish the configuration by pressing the enter key.
  7. Press the left cursor key to leave the configuration menue. Pine asks you to save the new settings. Press "Y" (without ").
  8. Restart Pine/Alpine
